Naval surface vessels
Naval vessels are large, complex systems. Filled with mounds of electronic systems, a frigate or corvette reacts sensitively toward electromagnetic waves. Propeller and sailing noises should not reveal an approaching naval vessel in any way. This also applies to the infrared signature, which is nothing more than cutting-edge high-tech camouflage. The infrared radiation has to be minimized to as low a level as possible to ensure that a naval vessel is not discovered.
Therefore R&M’s know-how in noise protection is highly sought. The shielding against electromagnetic fields is a main challenge that we aim to solve with our products, which have undergone years of experience-based optimization.
The special situation in which a naval vessel sails also requires integrated shock-absorbing fittings. These absorb any deformations of the vessel’s hull as the result of an explosion in the near vicinity of the ship. When it comes to naval vessels, R&M is not only at the customer’s side with special experience, we also hold several patents for combating shocks.
The submarine units are an essential element of any navy’s strategy, and are just as indispensable for fulfilling new duties as are surface ships.
The steadfastness of a submarine against shock-causing events such as water bombs or torpedo explosions also leads to a whole catalogue of challenges. These include special demands on the fittings’ levels of halogen and formaldehyde, both of which can cause lung damage.
The air quality in a submarine is to be assured at all times – no compromises. R&M has special authorization at its disposal for working in this area.
