Biggest contract for R&M Norway in long history
R&M Ship Interior AS, the Norwegian company of R&M Group, has been awarded with two significant contracts from Ulstein Verft AS in December 2017: the entire interior on the explorer cruise vessel for Lindblad Expeditions and the interior for all public and passenger areas on the new hybrid Ro-Pax ferry for Color Line. For R&M Ship Interior AS the order for the explorer cruise vessel is the biggest contract in the almost 40 years long history.
The new hybrid Ro-Pax vessel for Color Line, also called “Color Hybrid”, and the explorer cruise vessel are environmentally designed with high interior standards. Both contracts are the result of long cooperations between R&M Ship Interior AS with Ulstein Verft AS as well as R&M Sea Level Marine, LLC., an American entity of the R&M Group, with Lindblad Expeditions.
Lindblad Expedition vessel
The 130-meter-long Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic vessel will operate in the polar regions. Thanks to its characteristic X-BOW®, the zero-speed stabilizers and the top-quality interior it provides the highest comfort for the 126 passengers and approximately 60 crew members onboard. The passengers travel in 69 spacious guest cabins and suites. Furthermore, the vessel features a spa and fitness area, a main restaurant, an outdoor barbecue and a bistro area. The vessel will be built in Ulsteinvik, Norway and the delivery is scheduled for the January 2020.
Color Line’s new hybrid vessel
The Color Hybrid is a plug-in hybrid, whose batteries can be recharged either via a power cable or via the ship’s onboard generators. It will be a ferry operating daily between Sandefjord, Norway, and Strömstad, Sweden. With a length of 160m and a width of 27m it can take 2,000 passengers and up to 500 cars. The delivery is planned for May 2019.
