High-quality interior outfittings from R&M on the Costa Smeralda
One of the most challenging projects in R&M Finland´s history to date includes the cruise ship Costa Smeralda, which has a tonnage of 182,700 t and a passenger capacity of 6,518. As part of the Italian shipping company Costa Crociere S.p.A., the ship was built at Meyer Werft Turku and completed at the end of 2019.
In this exciting project R&M Finland was responsible for the steel-to-steel outfitting of the public, technical and utility areas as well as a section of the galleys. With over 250 workers, R&M worked relentlessly for almost two years to complete the ship:
The main restaurant, reception and shopping areas, a high-quality steakhouse kitchen as well as over 20 additional ac-rooms spread over several decks: The result is a professional ship interior from R&M on an area of approx. 7,550 sqm for public areas, kitchen and ac-rooms as well as an additional area of approx. 4,000 sqm for the utility areas.
In addition to the detailed technical design and the electrical installation, R&M carried out the construction and installation of the air conditioning and ventilation systems, the piping and the insulation. The interior design and installations in the public and utility areas as well as part of many galley areas on board were carried out in accordance with USPH requirements for food preparation, storage, and transport.
We are pleased to have completed this project to the fullest satisfaction of our client and are now devoting all our energy to the projects, which have already started, such as Carnival Carnival, Costa Toscana and RCCL Icon.
