R&M appointed as the development partner for FAYARD A/S

R&M has been commissioned by the shipyard FAYARD A/S to develop and renew the entire HVAC systems of the two Scandlines ferries originally built by P+S in Stralsund. The construction contract between FAYARD A/S and R&M was signed at the SMM trade fair in Hamburg on 10 September 2014.

In its role as turnkey partner of FAYARD A/S, R&M is responsible for the entire scope of the HVAC systems, from basic design to the supply of all the technical components and on to the fitting and installation on-site in Munkebo, Denmark. The contract has a total value of EUR 8.9 million.

“This represents the successful expansion of our range of services,” said Falko Schmidt, Managing Partner of the R&M Group at the signing of the contract. “Developing our HVAC business as well as tying in our existing core business of technical insulation and the interior outfitting of vessels and marine facilities is an important part of R&M’s business strategy. We look forward to demonstrating our capabilities as a system partner of FAYARD A/S in this challenging and exciting project.”

Thomas Andersen, CEO of FAYARD A/S added, “We are delighted to have found in R&M a strong partner for this technically demanding job.”

FAYARD A/S is a privately owned company, founded by the Andersen family in 1916. Under the leadership and ownership of the family through three generations, the yard has expanded from a small boat builder’s yard into a large, modern and efficient repair yard with four dry docks, superior cranes and plenty of quays and workshops to meet any requirements on maritime vessels, jack-ups and semi-submersibles.
