Turnkey contract for KLH Marine

In the middle of last year, Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) awarded KLH Marine, the HVAC Division of the R&M Group, a project contract to build a new RoPax ferry. On the ferry from the operator Irish Ferries, KLH Marine is installing a complete turnkey heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. The HVAC system will cover the entire crew and passenger areas including cabins, the bridge, lounges, restaurants, kitchens, laundry, food and beverage supply areas and stairwells.

The scope of work includes the engineering, installation, start-up and delivery of the HVAC systems, including air-conditioning and ventilation systems, reciprocator chillers for cooling the air-conditioning systems, supply refrigeration systems and autonomous air recirculation cooling units for the technics area. In figures, this means a total of 17 air-conditioning systems comprising approx. 300,000 m³/h of conditioned air and two chillers with a total cooling capacity of approx. 2.8 megawatts.

This extensive and complex engineering work is being carried out by our specialists in Germany and India. The support provided by the world's leading AVEVA engineering software and the provision of an AVEVA Global Satellite server from FSG, make it possible to achieve the efficient transnational coordination of the collaboration on the air-conditioning and ventilation systems, as well as the ship's other systems and structures.

Work has been in full progress since June and our installation engineers have begun equipping the deck house modules. The hull will be equipped in the shipyard in Flensburg from November onwards. Delivery of the ship is planned for June 2018.
